Firm Leadership

Alan R. Brown
Alan is the president and CEO of the organization, which he formed in 1978 after a career working as a special agent for the US Treasury Department. Alan is a former I.R.S. employee, and has been enrolled to practice before the I.R.S. for over 35 years. As an Enrolled Agent (“EA”), he has earned the privilege to represent taxpayers before the I.R.S. An EA designation can only be earned by passing a 3 part comprehensive I.R.S. test, covering individual and business tax returns, or through experience as a former I.R.S. employee.

Alan has taught accounting and taxation at the University level, and has advised over 200 companies and over 2,000 individuals on taxation and business organization throughout his career. Alan holds a BS from Pace College, a Masters in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a Masters in Accounting from the LIU CW Post, and a Series 63 license.

Michael N. Brown
Michael leads the operations of Long Island Tax and Financial Services. Michael has over 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, and managerial consulting. Prior to joining Long Island Tax, Michael spent 8 years with Loughlin Management Partners + Company (“LM”), where he worked on more than 50 transactions and projects driving value for Private Equity clients, hedge funds, banks, and their held interests.

Prior to LM, Michael worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the largest accounting firms in the world. His experience includes treasury management, controllerships performance improvement, and due diligence. Michael has served as an advisor or interim management to numerous companies, including Sbarro, Syms, Filene’s Basement, and Dollar Thrifty Rental Car (Hertz).

Michael holds a BA in Accounting and a MBA with a specialization in Accounting, Finance and Taxation from Fairfield University. He is also a member of the AIRA, AICPA, and is a Certified Insolvency Restructuring Analyst.
